The Toole County Courthouse in Shelby, Montana (Page nine of ten)
73008
The Toole County Courthouse in Shelby, Montana.
There is something about the "Art Deco" style courthouse and
the rock walls that makes this location memorable.
We need to learn if the "rock wall" is a former WPA project. You can see similar WPA "rock wall" projects in
Miles City
&
Great Falls.
Walking up to the courthouse we passed the
St. William School
and the
St. William Catholic Church
on Main Street.
Who can forget the
old Shelby High School
on Sixth Avenue South that was
built in 1931.
We liked the way the
light reflected off "The Chateau"
apartment building on Sixth Avenue South.
To the west of the courthouse you can see the
Community United Methodist Church
at 235 Fourth Avenue South.
Keep climbing up the hill to
see the view of Shelby, Montana from the south side of town.
(Be sure to enlarge the 8" x 32" panorama.)
From our south side vantage point we can see
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church
on 222 Maple Avenue.
The trees cover the building in the panorama but you see
"O'Haire Manor Motel"
advertisements on all the highways, so we included a photo.
Can you
see the Shelby City Hall
on 112 First Street South?
