Ross Creek Cedars – Are we Still in Montana?

See all of the Ross Creek panoramas on the MontanaPictures.Net webpage: Ross Creek Cedars, Montana Picture Tour.

Where did Ross Creek get its name?  Once called Lighting Creek, the stream was renamed for prospector A.C Ross in the late 1920’s.  If you’d been here then, you would have seen trappers and prospectors leading their pack animals along Ross Creek and far up into the drainage.

In 1960,  the beauty and serenity of the giant Western Red Cedars were preserved for all to enjoy when the Ross Creek Scenic Area was established by Northern Regional Forester Charles L. Tebbe.  The scenic 100-acre plot is closed to logging and mineral entry and is managed for its scientific and recreational values.
