McDonald Lake Lodge

Lake McDonald Lodge

Lake McDonald

Even though we are former East Glacier,  St. Mary & Swiftcurrent G.P.I. employees, we have to admit you can’t beat the Lake McDonald Lodge.  All visitor vehicles are parked out of sight on the south side of the lodge.  You get the feeling you have stepped back in time to a less hectic pace of life.  No one could blame you for wanting to spend the entire day relaxing in one of the rustic chairs facing Lake McDonald.

As a rule we shoot only exterior pictures but it would be a shame not to see the lobby of the Lake McDonald Lodge.  The Big Horn sheep (right corner) has a pretty good view of the lobby piano and the Lake McDonald Gift Store.  Take some time to see the lobby chandelier and the hallways full of eclectic oil paintings from the 1920’s.   We need to jump back on the shuttle and return to Highway 2.   On this tour we want to see the perimeter of Glacier National Park.

For now, turn back toward Apgar and West Glacier, Montana. From there, we will ride north, thirty-three miles, on Camas Road and then the Outside North Fork Road to Polebridge, Montana.
