We recently received a nice request from Spain. They wanted to re-visit Corbin, Montana
a little town twenty minutes south of Helena. They had lived in Corbin with a wonderful family as an "Exchange Student" in 1992.

The surrounding area is covered with active and abandoned gold mines.
Most of the important production occurred before 1892.
Up on the hill north of town stands the remains of the Alta Mine stone "Powder House."
You can see this "Stamp Mill" in the panorama above
- it's in between the brown garden shed and the white house.

You can see similar foundations
near Basin
and west of
Melrose, Montana
to name a few Montana locations.
We'll come back with more mining history
when we photograph nearby Jefferson City someday.
For now let's walk up to a "Corbin Landmark," the old railroad trestle.
