Welcome to the Alberton, Montana October Picture Tour
In the Missoula Montana Picture Tour we featured White Water Kayaking, Horseback Riding and large crowds at the Missoula Farmer’s Market. In the we’ll slow the action down a bit and enjoy pictures of the last days of Summer in Alberton, Montana.
The Alberton, Montana Tour begins with a ride along the Clark Fork River to Alberton, Montana. Next, we’ll walk down Railroad Street past the Montana Valley Bookstore, past the former Alberton Milwaukee Road Rail Road Depot and stop near the former Ghost Rails Inn.
As you can see in the panoramas (above). The three-story brick Alberton High School (1919 to 1960) was replaced in 1960 with a circular High School building across the street. The Alberton High School was designed by Missoula Architect, Ole Bakke. During his career, Bakke designed a number of prominent buildings in Missoula, notably the Forestry Building at the University of Montana, the Smead-Simon block downtown. He also designed the Lincoln and Franklin elementary schools.
